Effective: August 3, 2026. Bar Famous (www.barfamous.com) is a platform for claiming and collecting digital bar coins. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions: hello@barfamous.com.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, your phone number (if you verify one), and the display name shown on your public collector profile.
- Bar owner information: bar name, business contact details, and payout account information handled by Stripe when a bar joins the platform.
- Transactions: records of coin claims and transfers, including amounts and timestamps. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we never store your card number.
- Location: an approximate location check when you claim a coin, used to confirm the claim is happening at a participating bar and that the service is available where you are.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser information, and service logs used for security, rate limiting, and troubleshooting.
How we use information
- To operate the service: creating accounts, recording coin claims and transfers, and paying participating bars.
- To sign you in securely by email link or by one-time passcode sent by text message.
- To process payments and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our terms.
- To meet legal obligations, including sanctions screening on certain transactions.
- To send service communications about your account and your transactions.
Text messaging (SMS)
When you provide your phone number, you consent to receive one-time passcodes and account-related text messages from Bar Famous. Message frequency varies with your use of the service. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to opt out of text messages at any time. Reply HELP for help, or contact hello@barfamous.com. Opting out of texts may mean you need to sign in by email instead.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not sold, rented, or shared with any third party.
Service providers
We share information only with providers who help us run the service, and only for that purpose: Stripe (payments and bar payouts), Twilio (text messages), Supabase (authentication and database hosting), Resend (email delivery), Cloudflare (image storage and delivery), Sentry (error monitoring), MaxMind (location eligibility), and Google (bar location data). We do not sell personal information.
Retention and deletion
You may close your account at any time from your account settings. We delete or de-identify personal information when it is no longer needed, except records we must keep — such as transaction and audit records — to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit, access is restricted inside our systems, and payment credentials are handled by Stripe rather than stored by us. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your information we will notify you as the law requires.
Age
Bar Famous is not directed to minors. Coin claims happen inside licensed bars, and you must meet the venue's age requirements to participate.
